What is the Pearson English Exam (PTE)?
The English Pearson Test is an English proficiency test approved internationally by universities, schools and governments. This exam can be used to show your English ability for college and university enrolment, or as part of a visa application.
What does PTE calculate?
In countries where the native language is English, PTE Academic tests the real-life English abilities you require at university or for living abroad. It performs the fundamental language skills, i.e., the listening, hearing, communicating and writing skills, as most language literacy assessments.
What is the format of the test?
PTE Academic is a test aimed at testing different language abilities in both individual and combined ways. It is delivered on a computer and gives the outcome of the evaluation in five days at the most. The test is split into three main sections and lasts approximately three hours with an optional 10-minute break.
What about the scores for the test?
The PTE Academic Score Summary contains your total ranking, a score of communicative ability and sore abilities. Your general English language performance is expressed in the overall skills ratings. The score for all things in the test is dependent on your results. For the total ranking, the range is 10 to 90 points. Communicative abilities ratings (listening, hearing, communicating and writing) are based on all test items that measure these abilities, either in a single ability or with other skills. the range is 10 to 90 points for each communicative ability score. Scores for enabling skills are based on all evaluation elements measuring one or more of these skills (grammar, oral fluency, comprehension, syntax, vocabulary and writing discourse). The spectrum is 10-90 points for each activating ability. What are the acceptable ratings? 50 points in any of the parts are considered an appropriate score for academic purposes. If you take PTE for emigration purposes, however then PTE scores affect the points you get in the emigration process. You can get at least 65 to get 10 points. Moreover, at least 79 to get 20 points, for instance.
